Arts & Crafts
Botswanacraft was founded in 1970 by the Botswana Development Corporation to promote the local craft making industry of the country. Today the company is the largest retailer and exporter of such items and even offers an online store. They have grown to be Botswana's largest retailer and exporter of handicrafts and create numerous working opportunities, now employing over 40 local citizens who produce products for the store. The most popular items include weaved baskets and Bushman crafts. The company also imports handicrafts from other developing countries in Southern Africa adding to their range of products. The overall vision is to offer job opportunities to the less privileged communities and also promote the use of natural resources for the products. You can visit their store in Gaborone and perhaps also enjoy a sitdown meal at the Courtyard Restaurant located behind the store before or after your visit to the store.
