Camps
Tau Pan camp was the first of only two camps located inside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The camp offers an intimate experience with only 8 en-suite rooms in total, each with a private extended deck overlooking the famous Tau Pan. The main area has a dining hall, boma, bar, lounge as well a telescope some of the best stargazing in Africa. Activities on offer include morning and afternoon game drives in the CKGR and are particularly great between January and April when large numbers of antelope migrate through the region, followed closely by a variety of predators. 'Tau' means lion in Setswana and fits perfectly since the region is best known for sightings of the iconic black-maned Kalahari lions. In addition to game drives guests can also opt for an informative bush walk where they will be taught some of the survival skills of the ancient bushmen tribes that used to reside in the Central Kalahari. This camp is best accessed via fly-in safari although self-drive is also an option (4x4 driving and navigational skills are required). The nearest international airport is Maun (MUB).
