Event Details
This annual festival is hosted by the Botswana Tourism Organisation together with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture as well as Botswana Motor Sport. The event is hosted in a small village called Khawa approximately 167 km south-west of Tsabong in the Kgalagadi District. The event is a combination of sports and fun offering a variety of quad and motorbike challenges, camel rides and cultural performances for entertainment and a selection of local arts and crafts markets. Other sports activities include soccer, dodge-ball, netball, sand dune racing and sand dune monster trucks.
The Khawa cultural festival has been created to promote tourism by offering a variety of activities combined with cultural exchange. The aim is to involve local communities who will present their culture in terms of music and dance as well as offer them the opportunity to sell their products and services.
